About Us

At Slather Brand Foods, we believe food should never be boring. From the very beginning, the mission has been simple: create wholesome, flavorful sauces that bring people together around the table.

Slather was founded in 2009 by Robin Rhea, a Johns Island native who grew up surrounded by the flavors and traditions of the South Carolina Lowcountry. She learned early on the power of good food — raising chickens, growing vegetables, and cooking family meals from scratch. Robin combined those homegrown traditions with a spirit of culinary adventure, experimenting with global flavors while keeping one foot firmly planted in the South. Out of that passion came Slatherin’ Sauce, a sticky-sweet, slightly spicy blend of tomatoes, honey, pineapple, and peppers. In May 2010, she officially introduced the Original Recipe to the market, setting the tone for a brand dedicated to natural ingredients, no shortcuts, and bold flavor.

From day one, Slather has stood for clean, all-natural ingredients and Southern craftsmanship. We never use high-fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives — because we believe the food you share with your friends and family should be something you’re proud to put on the table. That philosophy lives on in our tagline: “The Cure for Boring Food®.”

Now under the leadership of co-owners Trey Hall and McKendrick Dunn, Slather continues to grow while staying true to its roots. Trey and McKendrick, entrepreneurs with a shared passion for business, specialty foods, and community, are carrying Robin’s vision forward into the next chapter. Their focus is on honoring the legacy of Slatherin’ Sauce while expanding the brand to reach new customers across the country.

Together, we remain committed to bold flavors, honest ingredients, and a little bit of Lowcountry soul in every bottle.
