Slatherin’ It On at the Taste of Chicago with Chef Julius
Slather Brand Foods will be represented at the Local Happiness Experience and Harvest Hope Food Drive event November 8th at the Richalnd Fashion Mall Food Court.
The event will offer attendees tastes of South Carolina made products. Not only will attendees get to taste these great products (including Slatherin’ Sauce) but they’ll enjoy music from Jim Sonefeld of Hootie and the Blowfish, Lunch Money and Melanie McMillian.

I’m a country girl at heart. I grew up on John’s Island. Our family dined on what was hunted or fished from the waters and woods around the island. So, supporting organizations that nurture the wild places where game and fish are native is important to me. That’s why I’ve been involved with the Cape Fear Wildlife Foundation’s first Wild Game and Seafood Banquet. As a featured chef at this event. I’ll be preparing our Carolina Pimento Cheese Grits and Slathered Shrimp.
I have been working with their planning committee in designing the menu. In addition to the shrimp and grits, there will be other Slathered including Slathered Venison Meatballs. Slatherin’ Sauce will also be available for the Grilled Venison Bratwurst and Wild Boar Sliders. Rattlesnake Chili however will not Slathered…I am uncomfortable with anything that slithers being Slathered.

We’ve got our traveling shoes on and we’re on the road. This week, not only do we have many tasting and demo events in New Jersey and environs, we join up with our friend Chef Julius Russell of A Tale of Two Chefs for The Taste of Chicago!
The “Taste of Chicago” is the world’s largest celebration of food. Each year, on average, more than 3 million people visit the “Taste”. On June 30th at 4:30pm, Chef Julius will be the headlining chef at the Dominick’s Cooking Corner. His live cooking demonstration will include showcasing new recipes and giving great cooking/grilling tips. And I’ll be right there with him. Chef Julius will also give out a “chef goodie bag” to those who are in the pavilion and Slatherin’ Sauce will be part of it!
