Encore Magazine Promotes the Cape Fear Wildlife Foundation Wild Game and Seafood Banquet
A few weeks ago I shared my excitement at being invited to participate in the upcoming Cape Fear Wildlife Foundation Wild Game and Seafood Banquet. The event is Saturday, 15 September in Wilmington, North Carolina. Encore Magazine in Wilmington has written a great piece sharing additional insights into the event. If you are in the coastal North Carolina area or in the Grand Strand, this will be a fun, and beneficial event. I hope you will attend.
Shea Carver of Encore wrote:
Robin Rhea of Slather Brand Foods will be in attendance from Charleston S.C., with her famed shrimp and grits, which include pimiento cheese and Spicy Slatherin’ Sauce. “This dish reflects both my deep Southern and coastal heritage and is one that we love sharing with others,” Rhea says. “The rich grits with the pimiento cheese is topped with delicious sweet shrimp that have been slathered in sauce that caramelizes and provides a flavor profile of sweet heat.”
Will I see you this coming Saturday at the Banquet? I hope so!
Tickets can be purchased by e-mailing [email protected] or calling910-795-0292 or 843-902-6532.
Slatherin’ Sauce in Berlin with SUSTA
In June 2012, Berliners had a chance to buy many Southern gourmet products. Slatherin’ Sauce was right there in the middle of it all. The promotion was at KaDeWe Department store in Berlin.
We’re grateful to the Southern United States Trade Association (SUSTA) for promoting Southern made goods in Germany.

Cape Fear Wildlife Foundation Wild Game & Seafood Banquet
I’m a country girl at heart. I grew up on John’s Island. Our family dined on what was hunted or fished from the waters and woods around the island. So, supporting organizations that nurture the wild places where game and fish are native is important to me. That’s why I’ve been involved with the Cape Fear Wildlife Foundation’s first Wild Game and Seafood Banquet. As a featured chef at this event. I’ll be preparing our Carolina Pimento Cheese Grits and Slathered Shrimp.
I have been working with their planning committee in designing the menu. In addition to the shrimp and grits, there will be other Slathered including Slathered Venison Meatballs. Slatherin’ Sauce will also be available for the Grilled Venison Bratwurst and Wild Boar Sliders. Rattlesnake Chili however will not Slathered…I am uncomfortable with anything that slithers being Slathered.
I’ve been told that tickets are expected to sell out quickly. If you want tickets, contact:

Hope to see you all there!

Slather Brand Foods to Participate in Gluten Free Raleigh Expo
Since our founding, Slather Brand Foods have been gluten free. We understand the challenge that people living gluten free have and heartily endorse the ability of everyone to find high-quality foods which allow them to enjoy cooking and eating tasty meals.
We’ve been invited to participate in the upcoming Expo in Raleigh and are looking forward to being there August 12th, 2012, in Raleigh, N.C. at The Cobblestone Hall from 2:30-6:30 pm.
Event founder Nikki Everett says,
In 2008, we began the journey of getting my daughter diagnosed with celiac. She did not react very well to the prospect of having to quit eating most of the foods she loved and began to feel very isolated from friends, angry at gluten (the enemy) and anyone who ate gluten around her. So I decided to start a children’s support group where they could be “normal” together and chartered R.O.C.K.(Raising Our Celiac Kids) Charlotte N.C. Chapter in Jan. 2009.
I heard about large Gluten/Allergen Free Events across the country and thought it would be great to bring one to Charlotte. My goal was to research products that were superior in quality, so gluten/allergen free didn’t have to taste inferior any more. After several successful events and a lot of awareness, the options are growing. However, there is still a lacking of availability in some locations or accessibility due to schedule of daily life.
Nikki’s founding of the Gluten / Allergen Free Events has helped far more people than her daughter. We’re really looking forward to meeting new friends in Raleigh.
Of course, we’ll be offering tastes of our Original Slatherin’ Sauce and Spicy as well as sharing great recipes for Slatherin’ Sauce.

Joe Barbieri from Met Foods Says “Sizzle up your grill skills”
We were delighted by the endorsement Joe Barbieri gave to of Slatherin’ Sauce during his appearance on NY1. Joe is with Met Foods, a purveyor of groceries all across the greater Manhattan and New York City area.
Joe tells viewers how they can Slather ribs and other foods. He says,
“Anything could be marinated with the Slatherin’ Sauce. That’s a sauce that came from ‘Down South’ it’s only up here maybe a year or two. You can do anything with it because it’s a honey based sauce so it caramelizes nice.”
Joe, we just love how you said it’s a great sauce that came from “Down South”—especially when you say it with your New York accent.
